Volunteer Opportunities

Director on our Board of Directors

Working with a diverse and talented group of volunteers to support the SurexCARE leadership in setting the vision and direction of the agency and ensuring sound stewardship. The Board needs volunteers with a range of skills including finance, leadership/management, property management, fundraising, marketing, legal knowledge and family members of individuals with developmental and physical disabilities. We are also looking for volunteers who can bring knowledge of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

Student Placements

Work directly with our clients as part of a student placement with a recognized college or university in a related field like Developmental Service Worker, Social Service Worker, Social Work, Psychology.

Administrative/Finance Volunteers

Work with our administrative team to help with various tasks at our head office, including filing, photocopying, scanning documents, sorting documents, shredding and other clerical tasks.

Event Specific Volunteers

Work with our fundraising committee to support the development and delivery of specific fundraising events.

Volunteering directly with our clients

Working alongside our staff to support individuals and groups to participate in events in our community.

How To Become A Volunteer

Before welcoming new volunteers, SurexCARE carefully screens all applicants to ensure a good fit. Given our work with vulnerable individuals, this may include a vulnerable sector screen if the volunteer will be working directly with our clients. Our volunteers receive comprehensive orientation and ongoing guidance and support while working with us.
